Instructional Module/Unit

Along with my team, I designed an instructional module/unit for a private school in the Atlanta area, as part of my Educational Technology Leadership master’s program. The IM/U was published as a website, with all resources necessary to learn how to use Google Classroom proficiently.

I want to give credit here to Melissa Hassan and Charlotte Carlsen, my classmates and part of my team, who designed and created this IMU with me for our class Designing Multimedia Materials. Our work is presented here with their permission.

How we got there.

Creating an instructional module/unit requires planning and conscientious analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of the instruction (or ADDIE, as we instructional designers call this cycle). Below you can find some of the “behind the scenes” work, i.e., the storyboard, the mock-up, the ADDIE model [image source], and the project management report (PMR).

Tools we used:

Google Suite for Education

Google Docs and Drawing to collaborate and create content. Google Meet for teleconferencing. Google Forms to create surveys and quizzes.

Smartdraw

Smartdraw for our storyboard/wireframe.

Balsamiq

Balsamiq for our mock-up.

GIF Brewery

GIF Brewery to create gifs that show procedures and steps for learners (Setting Up Classroom section).

Screencastify

Screencastify to record our screen and voice when creating video tutorials (Using Classwork Page section)

Edpuzzle

Edpuzzle to create quizzes and explain topics about video tutorials included from YouTube.
